April 2026 Amenities Committee Report

Pavilion, Pools, Clubhouse Door and Fence

The Amenities Committee has been meeting weekly as we work diligently on getting the pavilion and related amenities up and running. Joanne Adney has been taking care of the plantings around the pavilion and pool. David and Lin Strube have been busy checking lights and switches to make sure all is in working order. Betsy Kirchner has ordered locks for the dog park gates to keep this area secured for residents only. The combination for the front gate is 2042. 

We are in the process of installing a metal grate over the fireplace opening in the pavilion so that fires cannot be started due to safety concerns. At some point, we may consider installing gas logs in the fireplace behind the grate.

Both pools have passed city of Durham inspections and according to Pinnacle Pools will be open May 9 through Sept. 13.  The lap pool will operate on the same hours as the clubhouse pool. For those of you wanting to use the lap pool for workouts, there is now a scheduling app on Slack.

We appreciate Diane Bloomfield for managing the walk-throughs every evening at the pavilion site and all the neighbors and committee members who helped secure furniture for the storm that never materialized last month.

The new front door has been installed at the clubhouse. There remain some minor issues with the electrical and hook-up of the Sonitrol fob system, but we hope to have them resolved and the new door available for use very soon.

We have asked for quotes to repair the wood fence coming into the neighborhood from Fayetteville Road. Another option is to replace it with a metal fence similar to the other fences in the neighborhood.
