June 2025 Amenities Committee Report

Pool Season, Slack, New Committee Members, Many Improvements

By Beverly Abbott and John O’Keefe, co-chairs

Wow, pool season is upon us, and to confirm, all we have to do is go outside to experience the heat and humidity. The pool is open from sunrise to sunset. Please take time to familiarize yourself with the rules posted at the pool. We need your assistance to ensure the pool area is a good, pleasant and safe experience for all residents.

As pool season begins, we also are gearing up for the opening of the new amenities areas. We have four new members in the Amenities Committee, and we have implemented nightly checks at the clubhouse and pool to ensure everything is in place for success. We will be seeking additional volunteers when the new amenities open.

Please make sure you are a member of the Amenities channel on Slack. We share information there, and if you have questions, you can post them there. We follow the channel, and will respond. You can e-mail us here. Posting on the Slack Amenities channel allows other residents to know an issue has been reported, and we will follow up with action taken.

The big news for the current period is we now have a new and working outside water fountain in the pool area. This alone is cause for celebration.

The closer and bracket on the outer door of the screened porch has been replaced with the correct type, and is working properly.

We have an out-of-service piece of equipment in the fitness center. The equipment has been flagged, and we appreciate your patience while we resolve this issue.

We're still working on cable/WiFi/internet issues in the clubhouse, and we are checking on the possibility of adding some sports channels.

The new rug for the clubhouse great room has been ordered, and it should be delivered in a few weeks. Funds from the 2024 bingo fundraiser helped cover the cost. The rug and pad comprise the first step of what we hope will address some of the acoustic issues.

A “No Soliciting” sign has been installed on Fenwick Parkway coming in from Herndon Road.

Guards have been installed on the pool gates to help deter reach-over access to the pool.

A “5-Minute Mail Pick-Up” sign has been installed next to the mailboxes in the clubhouse parking lot.

There is a new piece of art in the beverage area of the clubhouse. It was painted and contributed by Karen Frankola.

Let's continue to work together for our wonderful community.
